Wildlife Photo Contest on Bug Busters USA Facebook Page!

February 24th, 2012

Last summer Tani Summerlin photographed this bird while outside for a family gathering in Senoia, Georgia.  They heard the bird squawking and wasn’t sure what it was, so they went in search of whatever was making the loud noise, expecting to find a peacock.  To their surprise this bird came strutting out of the woods.  They “googled” colorful bird pictures, and this bird was identified as a Chinese Golden Pheasant.  Tani said that the pheasant hung around for about a week before it disappeared.  She believes the bird was either a pet that became homeless after the tornadoes went through their area earlier in the year, or perhaps it escaped from a movie set of one of several movies that were being filmed in the area.

  1. Hi,

Thank you very much for posting this!!!!

  2. Nicely taken, Mostly, the Golden Pheasants are considered as domestic birds which are found in zoos and aviaries. However, Golden Pheasants prefer to live in the dense conifer forests. The remainder of the habitat should include some wetlands, grassland, and woodland or brushy thickets.
