Housing Infestations across the United States

It is no secret that homes can be a great habitat for various critters and vermin, from cockroaches to rats or spiders. That’s why regular surveys are conducted around the homes in the United States to help determine what kind of infestations are the most common in certain areas. This idea better equips the average exterminator to deal with the most common vermin and to recognize trends that might be occurring during certain seasons or in specific towns.

The survey conducted by American Housing recently, revealed that across 25 cities, Seattle, Washington has the highest reported signs of rats while also having the lowest signs of cockroaches. This holds value with the theory that rats and mice prefer colder climates, as New York has a large infestation of rats, while Tampa, Florida is lacking in that department.

The survey overall goes to show that the climate and area you live around can affect the kinds of pests you will have to deal with just as much as whether you are keeping your home clean or a nasty swarm of flying ants just happen to pass on by your house. Still, it is important to keep track of these surveys, as there are health risks associated with some of these vermin infestations. Parasites and bugs from rats and mice alone can cause major concerns, though nothing as serious as the black plague from centuries ago.
