Summer is a time for BBQs and enjoying the great outdoors Soon enough it’s time to go back to school and the cooler weather is on its way. Nothing can be more bothersome then trying to enjoy your outdoor activity when you are surrounded by the uninvited mosquitoes and flies that always seem to have a personal goal of ruining your event. While you may want to fill your yard with pesticides, remember the potential dangers they may cause not only the ecosystem, but to your pets, and even humans if exposed for a prolonged period of time. Naturally repelling the insects rather than destroying them should be the route taken.
Lemon grass will repel fleas and mosquitoes. Planted in containers, it can be moved from place to place accordingly. Basil, mint and oregano will repel flies and mosquitoes as they do not like the odor these herbs give off.
Scented oils may be your personal preference. Not only can they make your home and body smell delightful, the oils will repel insects and you will know all the natural ingredients you are rubbing on your body, unlike many of the commercial sprays.
Tiki torches put off heat that bugs don’t like. They also don’t like the smell given off by many candles and torches you can easily find at your local garden and lawn shop. Give natural repellant a try. For more information on mosquitoes and flies click here
