Sweet and Sour

It’s good to be Queen. And in the world of honey bees the queen comes on a first come first serve basis. The first queen out of larva stage with actually still all the others to assure she is the only one. The way a honey bee is designed is pretty brilliant. They have little baskets on their hind legs that will store the nectar they’ve collected to make honey. They live in large colonies and feed off of their delicious, sweet, sticky honey though out the winter months to survive. While bees certainly help us, we don’t necessarily want them camping out on or in our property. They are normally not aggressive, but they do sting. About 3% of American are allergic to bee stings and need to be extra careful around them.  If you find a hive call a professional to remove it.

No one like a free loader and deer ticks are no exception. If your kids are playing outside as they will, make sure to check them for ticks and parasites. Deer ticks carry Lyme Disease! You can identify their bite as it may has a rash shaped like a bulls-eye. Flu like symptoms usually occur after being bitten by a deer tick. Nothing sweet about a deer tick.
