What Makes You a Mosquito Magnet | Mosquito Control
Do you find that the minute you step outside mosquitos seem to immediately zero in on your scent and come running (or flying) for a taste of your precious blood? After you return indoors, do you find bug bites all over your body…even in places couldn’t possibly have had access to? Well, don’t fret. You are in good company, as around 20 percent of people seem to be especially irresistible to these blood-sucking pests. This group of unfortunate individuals is called “high attractor types,” and scientists believe that there are some factors that contribute to how attracted mosquitos are to you.
One thing that may be drawing the attention of mosquitos is the color of your clothes. Mosquitos use sight to target their prey and dark colors such as navy and black, as well as bright ones like red make you easier to spot. Another possible factor is your blood type, which might seem rather obvious since it is your blood that mosquitos are after. Type O comes in at the top of the list, gaining twice as much attention as Type A. If you have Type B blood, you rank somewhere in the middle. Since two meals are better than one, pregnant women are particularly tasty targets. Mosquitos are also apparently hungry little lushes, as they tend to have a hankering for people who have recently drank or are drinking beer. And these are just some of the things that contribute to how tasty mosquitos will find you.
Do you fit any of these descriptions? Are you a mosquito magnet?
